A chance to have a look at some of the cats that have been
re-homed
and find out how they are getting on in their new homes.

Zuzu.
Hi Everyone at THARG
Just to let you know that Zuzu is doing fine.
She has turned from a timid little mum into a tricky, playful
young cat!
She loves her new home and both her's and her sister's toys!
She especially loves her garden as you can see from the pictures.
She is adored here and even her new sister, Beryl, has warmed to
her,
they now play chase all around the house.
Thank you so much for helping us adopt Zuzu.
Yours, Debbie.

Wanda.
We adopted Wanda in August.
She wasn’t too happy on the journey home
but once she got home she discovered her food within 5 minutes
& began to explore the house, rubbing against everything she
could find.
She is very affectionate & loves to be stroked, she will often
mew at you when you go up to her.
We’ve begun to let her out over the last few days & she’s
loving being able to explore the garden.
We bought a toy mouse for a cat who used to visit us in our old
house, he wasn’t bothered about it at all but Wanda loves it!
She will often be found pouncing on the mouse or pulling its
stuffing out, she is such a playful little cat.
We’re really glad we adopted Wanda, thank you to all at the
Heatons Cat Rescue Centre,
keep up the good work,
Nicky & Chris.
Spike & Bobby.
Hi, Have finally got round to sending some photos of Spike &
Bobby (prev known as Javert & Valjean).
As you can see they have completely settled in their new home,
they did live under the kitchen cupboards for a few months and
weren’t the friendliest of cats, to say the least.
Spike (short haired) hissed at anyone who tried to come anyway
near him for at least 3 months,
he slowly came to trust us and is now the softest &
friendliest cat I have ever seen, the transformation is
unbelievable!
They are very much loved and have bought a lot of happiness into
the home.
Best wishes,
Helen.

Cloudy.
Dear Julie, Just a quick message to say that the little grey and
white kitten we adopted
at the start of January is now a grown-up: it is her first
birthday today.
She has been showered with cat toys, tins of fish, and ribbons to
play with!
She has given us all so much pleasure,
solved the problem of mice coming into the house every autumn,
entertained the elderly couple next door,
and caused a big row with some other neighbours over her liking
for their vegetable patch!
Can't imagine our house without her now.
Thanks so much for trusting us with her.
Hope you like the attached photos of her.
Jackie, Elsa and Zoe.

Perci Update.
(Original story on page 3)
Hello! I hope that all the staff and kitties at the sanctuary are
well.
As it's now been exactly one year since we adopted our cat, Perci,
from your lovely little sanctuary,
I thought I'd send you an update to let you know how she's getting
on.
Perci has settled right into life with us- she's a very
affectionate cat who loves jumping up onto the bed
for morning cuddles, and sitting on our laps whilst watching a
film.
She's also extremely playful- she loves exploring the little bit
of woodland near our home, and she really enjoys playtime with her
dangly chase toys!
She's enriched our lives infinitely since the day we picked her up
from The Heatons, and it's now difficult to imagine our home
without her.
I've attached some photos of Perci in her favourite spots around
the house, so you can see how well she's settled in.
Thank you to everyone at the sanctuary for the incredible work
that you do,
and for making it possible for us to give a loving home to a
beautiful cat like Perci.
Lots of love, Sarah, Chris and Perci.

Sox.
Jessy.
Last New Year's Eve, my wife and I re-homed 2 of your cats that
you had in your shelter.
At the time, they were named Omar and Lois (brother and sister).
Since we got them home, they have been re-named Sox and Jessy.
They are both so soft, we are so glad that we have them.
In August this year, we have also had another new addition to the
family with the birth of our son, Oliver.
The cats have both really taken to him which we are so chuffed
about.
We're not so sure they'll think the world of him when he starts
chasing their tails though...!
Anyways, just wanted to let you know how they were getting on and
will attach a few pics for you.
Hope all is well at the Shelter, Adam and Lyndsey.
Cagney and Fuzz.
We gave Cagney and Fuzz a new home just one week ago.
They are the most delightful kittens and settling in well.
Cagney is very affectionate and follows us everywhere.
Fuzz is a very laid back kitty and loves to terrorise his sister.
They are lovely company and we are pleased we made the decision to
adopt them.
Pat and Stuart.

Pudding & Bobby.
Hi Julie, Warren and all at the Heatons,
just thought I would send you pictures of the boys (I actually
have so many photo's of them I don't have room to fit them all
on!!).
As you can see they have settled in really well. Bobby loves
snuggling under the radiator while Pudding constantly sleeps on
his back!
It really feels like they have been here forever and I can't begin
to tell you how great it is to have them both.
Just want to thank you all again for being so welcoming when Nic
and I came to do our charity work we had a fantastic day
and also I wouldn't have my boys! (please say hi to Linda)
Julie xx.
Dora.
Hi, I asked my new friends at my forever home to drop you a note
to let you know I am OK as I am sure you are missing me :)
Actually I am having a great time although I am exhausted right
now.
I have been a busy bee as there is an awful lot of exploring to be
done here.
I have found lots of rooms but keep coming across new ones so I
have to check them all out.
I love charging up and down stairs and like to see how quick I can
get from upstairs to downstairs
- I am actually pretty quick but I have bumped my head a few times
when I skid down the hall but it is fun.
I have worked out that the chap who lives here knows all the best
places to sit so I wait for him to move and then I stake my claim
for his seat and don't let him back.
Actually he has quite a comfy lap and I sometimes let him back on
the chair provided I can sit on him which seems a fair deal.
I will write again soon but don't worry about me I am having a fun
time and I like the food here.
Love Dora xxx.
Algy. (Formerly Shrek)
Here's the meeting with one thought in mind. Sleep!
After one night of who do you think you are feline hell,
a combination of Algy's persistent charm and Bengy's
good nature won the day.
Both THARG's little beauties and from the looks of this, destined
to become great friends.

Livia (Formerly Cyberia).
Hello to everyone at THARG, We thought you'd like to know how well
Cyberia - now Livia - has settled in.
Initially she was rather nervous, but is now very confident with
the family, although she tends to back away from strangers.
She soon abandoned her official 'cat' bed for the top of the
sofa and the most comfortable 'human' beds (see photos).
Although diagnosed with a heart condition when she went to have
her inoculations, she is very active, both outdoors and inside.
She particularly enjoys hunting (with alarmingly savage sound
effects) an extremely ugly fish toy on a string;
so much so that we recently had to buy a replacement, which is
already beginning to look the worse for wear.
She eats more or less anything, but a particular favourite is ham.
When we turn on the kettle for tea or coffee, she
rushes into the kitchen if she is within earshot and sits by the
fridge door in order to ambush whoever tries to open the door to
take out the milk.
There is then a tussle between tea-maker and cat, as the former
tries to pick up the milk with one hand,
while trying to prise the packet of ham from the cat's jaws with
the other.
She is also ruthless when it comes to raiding the meal table
if not shut out of the room.
Needless to say, she has put on weight since her arrival.
Christmas has brought additional opportunities: baubles are more
fun than proper cat toys see photo 2,
it makes her look Christmas-card perfect, but more innocent than
she really is.
The little cloth figures on the advent calendar will be pulled off
and hunted into an obscure corner if she feels she isn't getting
enough attention.
In her more dignified moments she is an elegant cat - and she
knows it:
she is given to posing on the front-room window-sill, which has
earned her some admiring comments from callers.
Interestingly, she prefers to not to sit on a lap but to sleep
leaning against her human armchair.
All in all, she is a most characterful cat and has certainly
enlivened our lives since her adoption.
We now await with some trepidation the challenge of keeping Livia
and a large roast turkey apart!
Thank you again and a very happy Christmas to you all. I
hope the New Year brings you many more potential adopters for all
your feline charges,
from Mary, Philip and Tim Beagon (and now James, just home
from university for Christmas and introduced to Livia for the
first time)

Paris.
Hello to everyone at THARG, We re-homed Paris on 11/11/11 - in the
sanctuary, Paris was a little feisty
but as soon as we introduced her to her new home, she was like a
completely different kitty!
She has settled in really well. She loves to explore and will have
a go at climbing anything she possibly can!
Her favourite toy is a frog on a stick of which she never gets
bored!
However, silver or gold shiny bows off presents have been her
latest fascination!
She plays at any opportunity, it is hard to believe she is 6 as
she acts very much like a kitten.
We think Paris may have been an indoor cat in the past as she was
very unsure of being outside at first.
She now likes to go out and have a play in the garden but usually
comes in after about 10-15 minutes;
I don't think she likes to get her paws dirty to be honest! :)
She spends most of her time lying on my desk while I am working so
she can demand maximum attention (see pic), or likes to sprawl out
at the top of the stairs.
Paris gets on fine with our one-eyed-pug Gomez but likes to show
other cats who is boss -
we have had plenty of back door visitors since she moved in that I
doubt will be visiting again any time soon!
She is a gorgeous little lady with a great personality and we are
so happy to have her.
I think she is happy to have us too :)
Best wishes, Donna & Gareth x
P.S. We were so so happy to see that Cha Cha got her long-awaited
home the day after we took Paris!
Couldn't stop thinking about her!

Brody. (Formerly Shane)
Dear Heatons, We adopted Shane - now Brody - from you in December
2010.
He had been found in the snow by an elderly couple who couldn't
keep him because they had a dog.
He had only been at the rescue one day, and you said he was lucky
to be rescued because you were full to the rafters with cats that
week.
We saw him first, then all the other cats, then all the kittens
just to make sure, but Brody chose us and so it was.
He settled in beautifully and I can't imagine life without him
now.
He's a right charmer, even people who aren't keen on cats like
him, and the nurses at our vets think he's gorgeous.
He's also my little tiger, a formula one racecat, he's into
everything:
cupboards, drawers, laundry (he LOVES laundry), he's even learnt
to open doors by leaping on the handle!
He loves catnapping, on our bed, or by the fire, or on random bits
of carpet that sit over the hot water pipes, he's our very own
heat-seeking missile.
His favourite toys are little catnip mice, and once he wins it off
me he growls as if to say "game over, get lost, its mine",
sometimes he finds my secret stash of catnip mice and brings me
one in his mouth so we can play!
He goes outside occasionally, but he's not that keen, he mostly
sits at the window chattering at the birds.
He's never brought us a dead animal but we have had gloves,
plastic bags and sponges.
His favourite indoor hunting targets are spiders, flies and toes;
once he was teasing a spider in the bath, putting it in his mouth,
spitting it out, pawing it some more etc and it got away down the
plughole,
he sat longingly at the plughole on and off for days, we had to
coax him out so we could have a bath!
Brody hates to be mollycoddled and is the antithesis of a lapcat,
but when we are sad or lonely he seems to know and curls up next
to us, purring away.
Thanks for rescuing him so that we could give him a home, and he
could give us a family.
Yours, The Whatsons.

Urmel. (Formerly Kizzy)
Hi, I took Urmel (formerly Kizzy) home 3 1/2 years ago.
I just wanted to let you know that she is doing great and is much
loved.
She was skinny and timid at first but soon she was thriving and
developed a lovely personality.
She lives in a nice flat with a garden and her servant (me) is
waiting on her hand and foot.
I can't imagine life without her and want to thank you for taking
her in when she was in need
and in giving her a chance to find a loving home.
Keep up the good work.
S + Urmel.
Minnie. (Formerly Midnight).
Midnight - 1 year on!!!
A year ago (15/1/11), we visited you and came home with Midnight.
Midnight was quite poorly and had, lets say, anger management
issues (!!!)
but we knew all of this before we chose her and we decided she
needed a home as much as the others did.
We all fell in love with her very quickly, but she wasn't as quick
to love us back!!
She settled into her new home well, and after a few visits to the
vets, her health improved.
However she was still quite nervous and rarely came for a cuddle
or to snuggle up next to us.
We've persevered with her, and we soon realised that her feisty
nature was more playful than nasty.
So "dad" became a living cat toy - he has the scars to prove it!!!
Now, she's still likes her own space and time,
but she's so much more loving than she used to be.
She'll think nothing of climbing under the duvet covers for a
snuggle before the alarm clock goes off.
She regularly wakes us wanting attention (at all hours!!!)
sometimes with a meow, and other times with a bite on the nose!
Both ways work well!!!
She enjoyed her first Christmas with us recently, we had NO tree
left and spent a fortnight tripping over tinsel and baubles!
She seemed completely bemused by all of it, and had her own
stocking full of treats and toys,
which she'd stand up and paw at! Not to mention her own Christmas
dinner!!
Anyway, we just wanted to update you, and thank you once again for
giving her to us.
She's safe, warm, happy and healthy, and she'll never want for
anything again.
Thank you! Simone, Gary, Alice and Minnie (Midnight) x x x.

Jaffa cake and Muffin. (Formerly
Tabby and Ginger)
Hi, I thought I'd send you some photos of our 2 cats we re-homed
from you in August.
Jaffa cake and Muffin were from a litter of 4 kittens and all were
very cute but we couldn't have them all!
Jaffa cake and muffin really sold themselves to us, Jaffa was
asleep in the litter tray and muffin was asleep on the floor they
stole our hearts straight away!!
They are two brothers who love each other very much, they are
always cuddling each other and washing each other
it's very cute to watch and if they are in different rooms in the
house they shout to each other.
They are always playing and running really fast around the house,
we are so glad we re-homed 2 as they have there own little
personalities,
Jaffa cake enjoys his morning cuddles with us and is a softie,
where as muffin tries to play the tough man he's not really a
cuddler yet,
but he likes to come and sit with you and loves watching football
whilst being stroked he has a really long tail which we think he
will grow into one day.
They are both always purring and they absolutely love dreamies!!

Harry.
This little fella was born in May 2011. Best thing we ever did was
taking him home.
It was heartbreaking to leave his brothers, sisters and mum behind
but the kitten with no name just had the most gorgeous eyes !
I couldn't resist !! It did not take Harry long to settle in ....
He is gorgeous with a capital G !
Very loving and playful He has even been known to "kiss" the fish
in our tank.
He has free reign all over the house and if me or my son are
feeling a little under the weather, Harry will stay by our side.
He has a playful side...you can hear him pitter patter across the
wooden floors chasing leaves he brings in as presents (thankfully
no mice !).
Harry is our world...even contemplating another addition !! With
Harry's approval of course !
Tracey.

Pixel. (Formerly Briony).
Hello, I just wanted to send you a very quick e-mail to let you
know how Pixel (formerly Briony) is getting on.
She is a wonderful little kitten but has turned out to be a bit of
a handful!
We quickly discovered that she has an obsession with water, often
sleeping in the bathroom sink, and has been known to actually jump
in the shower with me!
She has also learnt how to jump from the floor to the top of a
door seamlessly (though isn't so good at getting back down
again!),
loves sitting on people's shoulders and insists on waking me up at
half past 5 every morning! However,
life wouldn't be the same without her. She really is a lovely
kitten.
She will be getting spayed on the 23rd so it'll be interesting to
see how she copes with the vets but seeing how she is
normally (incredibly bold and daring) I'm pretty sure she'll take
it all in her stride!
Hope you and all the cats at the centre are getting along well!
Emma.

Pumpkin.
Dear All, I came into your shop today and decided to email you.
I often donate items I no longer need to your shop.
I also re-housed Pumpkin just over 5 years ago and I thought you
may like to see how he is getting on.
It took him a while to settle in with us (I had a house mate and
another cat at the time).
The house mate has moved out now and I adopted another cat from a
friend who could no longer look after him.
So now I have my three boys. Pumpkin is a wonderful little man.
He won the hearts of the neighbourhood and is often treated to
cuddles, warm fires and catnip from some adoring neighbours.
He is very happy at his home and he makes me very happy.
All the cats get on so well and they often make me laugh chasing
around the house and getting into mischief!
Pumpkin took a while to adjust to life here but once he did, I
began to realise what a lovely, gentle character he has.
He now likes a cuddle and his favourite place is curled up in
front of the radiator in the front room.
He and his adopted brothers bring me so much love and pleasure.
You are doing a wonderful job at the sanctuary.
I will continue to support you when I can.
I hope you like the pictures.
Sara.
Dora.
Hi guys, I'm having such a laugh with my new forever family, but
just found time to drop you a line.
I've been exploring all over the place and it's great fun.
I keep taking the bloke and lady who live with me treats.. (you
know, lovely fat mice and the like), but they don't seem to want
them.
Would you like me to send you some?
Anyway, there are some lovely places to sleep here and this is my
favourite chair.
Unfortunately, the bloke here also wants it, but I usually get my
way.
I do miss you guys, as you were so nice to me, but I love it here
too.
Feel free you use my picture on that webby thingy.
I'll try and write again soon.
Love,
Dora.
Sent from my iPad.....
Actually it's not mine,
but the lady here isn't watching so I nicked it!

Nikita. Formerly
Lita.
Hey there!!
I'm Jade Shaw, I adopted little Lita just over a month ago.
She came as part of a set (Blaine & Lita) but unfortunately
they were re-homed separately.
Lita, now called Nikita, has settled into her new home very
well.
She is a playful kitten who loves nothing more than her little
pink mouse to play with, or anything that moves!
1ps seem to be her favourite right now. She actually plays fetch
too!
She loves to cuddle up with her new mum and have lots of strokes
and attention. She likes the occasional cuddle off her new dad
too.
She likes to hide under blankets and duvets and make herself a
little den, so you always have to be careful where you sit!
Nikita also likes to sit and watch the world at the windows.
We are so glad we adopted Lita and were able to offer her a new,
warm, loving home.
Thank you!
Jade
Harry.
Hi there, Just to let you know how Harry is getting on and please
feel free to post on your website.
We have only had Harry 2 weeks, but he has finally settled into
our home quite comfortably.
He was terrified at first of our 2 year old Joseph, but now he has
absolutely no problem at all with him!
Harry is extremely affectionate and likes to follow you about, and
he also likes to sleep under the duvet with you.
He loves playing with a ball and we laugh at how high he can jump
to catch it. We also think that he acts like a sheepdog when
playing!
He drove me mad to go out and we were going to leave it a month,
but he actually escaped and I was mortified, but after 15 mins, he
was waiting by the back door.
I decided to let him go out a few days later which he was very
grateful for,
but he comes back and jumps on the window sill outside for
reassurance that we are still there.
So far he goes out in short bursts as he is just getting used to
our neighbourhood.
Harry is extremely vocal and he loves to be picked up and fussed
over.
He seems to take a keen interest whenever we have a bath, and I
have to make sure he doesn't jump in!
I think he wants to play with our sons toys that float on the
water.
Anyway we are so happy with Harry and he seems to be very happy
with us.

Tinkerbelle and Dolcie.
Hi! I thought you'd like to know how your two lovely girls,
Tinkerbelle and Dolcie, are settling into their new home...
They are both contented and have identified the best
hiding/vantage points so that they can keep a close eye on all of
us -
behind the settee at the bottom of the stairs seems to be
favourite, with one cat facing each way for maximum observation!
Tinkerbelle has already had lots of cuddles and likes being
brushed with the Zoom Groom, Dolcie lets us give her a careful
stroke as long as it's not for too long.
Tinkerbelle is deeply suspicious of upstairs, although Dolcie is a
little bolder and came to explore after we had all gone to bed
last night!
Thank you so much for helping us to re-home them both - they
are beautiful cats and have great characters.
We can see already that they would have been miserable if they had
been separated, so we're really glad that we could offer both of
them a home.
Please do let their original owner know that they are settling in
well and are happy together.
Lots of love,
Will, Sue, Matthew and Robert Coyle.
