Re-homed

A chance to have a look at some of the cats that have been
re-homed
and find out how they are getting on in their new homes.

Mabel.
Mumford.
Hello!
We recently adopted Jangles from you and previously Avril in July
2009 and wanted to send you an update.
As you can see, Mumford (formerly Jangles) is settling in really
well and gets on with our lovely Mabel (formerly Avril).
He was quite poorly when we got him and had to be kept isolated
for a couple of weeks, but has picked up and is incredibly
naughty!!
Neither of them get on with our other cat Mishka but she doesn't
like anyone and spends all her time sleeping in our room.
He likes running round the gardens with Mabel and making sure all
the other cats know that he is the most handsome boy on the
street.
Mabel likes to keep him in his place, and is the cheekiest cat
ever. She's also the greediest cat ever;
when we first got her we once found her in the kitchen hanging
from the oven door by her front paws trying to get at the
shepherd's pie in there!
It's fun at the moment trying to get to sleep when all three cats
insist on sleeping on the bed....
Mumford and Mabel are often to be found scampering around, and are
growing to love each other.
I even found Mumford giving Mabel a cuddle and giving her a wash
at the weekend for the first time
- although he did ruin it by biting her ears after a few seconds!
They are always making us laugh with their shenanigans and have
definitely helped to make our house a proper home.
Thank you for our two lovely cats they are very well and happy and
always causing mischief!
Beth & Duncan

Norma.
Hi We would just like to let you know how Norma is doing
with us.
We rehomed her in August, and after spending 2 days hiding under a
bed we finally enticed Norma downstairs with some tuna!
Since then she has made our home her home.
Norma enjoys sleeping in the sun on our decking and watching the
world go by from the vantage point of our front bedroom.
She has a lovely temperament and we are very fond of her. We kept
her name Norma because it suited her.
We are quite happy for you to publish this and photos on your
site.
Thank you for giving us the chance to rehome Norma.
Jane.

Charlie (Previously called Jonass).
Hello all, Another Charlie!
We picked this fella up a couple of weeks ago and he settled right
in.
Of course he had to thoroughly explore his new home first, and
found every nook and cranny.
He even managed to go 'missing in action' by finding a gap around
the back of a set of drawers in the spare room.
For about an hour we thought he'd done a bunk, but then he calmly
re-appeared without a care.
As we live in a rather busy area we have decided that Charlie will
be a house cat.
It doesn't seem quite right to deprive him of his daily dose of
fresh air and sunshine,
but several cats have gone missing around here just lately and we
think he's far safer indoors.
He's very curious and has to investigate every little noise around
the house,
and he often spends ages talking to next doors cat or the birds
through the window.
At night, he hops up onto the end of the bed and stays there until
about six o'clock,
when he goes to the bathroom and uses his tray. He is very
regular, I'll give him that!
So a big thanks to Warren and Julie and all the helpers-out at the
Heatons for helping Charlie (ex Jonass) find a loving home.
He'll be well looked after and loved to bits.
Andy & Hazel.

Indie & Mia.
Indie.
Hello to all the team at the Heaton animal rescue,
Just thought i would send you an email to let you know how Mia and
Indie (was known as Lauren and Kitten) are getting on.
Having just bought our first house my boyfriend and I wanted two
cats to make our home feel complete
so we decided to visit the rescue centre in January 2011 (just for
a look, I told my boyfriend).
When we were being shown around I fell in love with a cat who had
just become a mum for the first time to 3 beautiful kittens.
She wasn't available for adoption as the kittens were still too
young to leave their mum.
After expressing our interest in Mia (Lauren) and asking if we
were able to have a kitten also,
the lovely lady agreed that it would be OK for us to reserve Mia
(Lauren) and a Kitten but we would not be able to take them home
till the middle of February.
Picking the kitten was hard but Indie stood out a mile because she
was such a mummy's girl.
After paying our deposit, I asked whether I would be able to visit
them, which the staff were lovely and reassured me I was able to
visit whenever.
I got to know all the staff as I was never away from the centre as
I couldn't wait to take them both home.
We have now had Mia and Indie for nearly 4 months and I couldn't
imagine our home without them.
Mia is very loving and settled in straight away. She loves her
food, going out on adventures and sleeping.
Indie is still a mummy's girl and follows Mia were ever she goes.
Indie has grown so much in the past months and loves nothing more
then playing with her cat toys while her mum is having a well
deserved break outside.
We couldn't have picked two more perfect cats for us to have. They
are spoilt rotten and get lots of hugs and kisses from us.
Thank you so much for our beautiful cats!! Keep up the good work,
Vicky and Paul xx
Stella.
We collected our kitten from the Heatons Animal Rescue Group
and instantly fell in love with her.
The Rescue group are very proffessional and made sure our kitten
was coming to a good home.
We've had Stella (our new name for her) for a few days and she has
fitted in so well.
My fiancee and I have fallen in love with Stella and she's getting
lots of attention.
Thanks to everyone at Heatons Animal Rescue Group.
I highly recommend them for future re-homing.
Thanx again, Paul.

Nessie.
Jack & Nessie.
We rehomed Nessa, which has now morphed into Nessie, on
Halloween 2009,
we already had a cat, Jack, who was missing his pal who had sadly
died in the summer before.
Nessie spends much of her time sleeping in her basket next to
Jack,
She loves her belly being rubbed and is a very affectionate cat.
We are very happy to have found her and been able to give her a
home.
We are happy for you to share these photos with others on your
website.
Thanks, Ian and Philomena.

Alfie.
I thought you might like an update about Alfie who we adopted
about 1.5 years ago.
He was quite poorly when we got him (cat flu/eye infection) and
when we took him to the vet they found out that he has FIV.
He has to stay indoors but he's not bothered - we think he has
learnt his lesson about running away after being a stray.
He was very shy and bad tempered at first but he is much more
friendly now and VERY noisy!
So noisy in fact that his nick name is Meow. He also coos like a
pigeon!! We love him.
He is a living alarm clock and wakes us up each morning. He sleeps
on my boyfriend's chest at night.
During the day he snoozes on the bed or chills out on the window.
He is very greedy and thanks to some special food he has not been
ill for about 6 months!
He is also fond of a bit of catnip now and then.
Thanks, Hannah.

Shelly.
We have only had Shelly since Saturday and already she has
come out of her shell.
If she's not demanding attention and wanting to play then she is
exploring the house.
Today she decided to go upstairs and walk along the mantle piece,
so one could say she is defiantly feeling at home.
Robyn-Louise.
Bam.
Here is a photo I took today of Bam soaking up some
sunshine!
I adopted Podge off you a couple of months ago now, she has since
been renamed Bam.
She is settling in beautifully, infact only hours after I got her
home she was sauntering around like she owns the place.
She has claimed her very own spot on my bed, and adores jumping up
to sit with us on the sofa, especially at tea time!!
She has also developed a brilliant habit of sitting on my pillow
and meowing at breakfast time and serves as a second to none alarm
clock.
Thankyou very much to everyone at THARG for introducing me to my
greatest companion!
Rachael.
Zooko.
We brought Zooko home yesterday and it didn't take him very
long to settle in and look very smug and content.
His purr is amazing! He's an extremely affectionate cat and is a
very welcome addition to our family.
Cinnamon our other cat is slowly accepting that he's here to stay
and we think they'll end up being great friends.
Thank you for all your help in choosing him.
Love the Mills family xxxx.
Richard & Suger.
Hi, Back in 2001 myself and my partner adopted one of your oldest
residents Suger.
She lived in Manchester with us and then later moved with us to
Gran Canaria where she has had a great life enjoying the sunshine.
Sadly today she passed away after a great innings.
I just thought you might appreciate knowing that she had a good
life all thanks to the start you gave her.
All the best. Richard.

Florence. Molly.
Hi Julie, Simon and everyone Just to let you all know that
Florence is settling in well after being rehomed on 1/7/11.
She is such a beautiful little cat with a calm nature and a lovely
temperament.
Having said that she wakes up at 5/30am every morning(!!) and
races around the house for 2 hours until we get up.
When she has been fed she sleeps so deeply that nothing would wake
her up.
Also, she has decided that she will only eat tuna and chicken and
she polishes off portions the size of herself!
Moreover, she has found a voice and squeaks all the time,
especially when fussed.
She follows my husband everywhere, gazing at him and nudging him
for attention.
She even sits outside the bathroom and waits for him to come out.
We were really apprehensive about Molly's reaction to her at
first,
and we did have quite a hard first week, but things have settled
down.
As you can see they are happy to carve up the bed between them.
We are so pleased with her and its wonderful to see her character
emerging.
Thanks to everyone at the Heatons for the extraordinary work you
do,
and for helping us find Florence and Molly.
Kathy and Bernie.

Winston.
Hello to all at the Heatons,
Winston has been with us for 4 months now so I thought you'd like
to see how much he's grown and hear how he's doing.
Winston settled in well with us after investigating all of the
house.
As you can see from the photograph he has made himself at very
much at home.
He had all his injections and is also micro chipped; he was a very
good boy for the vet.
He loves playing outside in the garden and climbing trees.
Winston likes lots of strokes and belly rubs, but on his terms;
though he sometimes wants one in the middle of the night so will
wake us up by standing on us in bed, then nudging ours hands.
He gets away with it as he's so cute!
Everyone who meets Winston tells us how lovely he is and how soft
his fur is too, especially our two girls who think the world of
him.
Winstons last name changed from Wilkinson to Larke as Gary and I
got married last month, so we all have the same name.
Love from Winstons mum and dad, Joanne and Gary, and his sisters,
Megan and Hannah Larke.

Ava & Ramona.
I thought that I would give you a quick update on how our
cats are doing.
We adopted Ava, a black and white kitten, back in September 2010.
We wanted a kitten following the death of our old girl a few
months earlier,
however while in the rehoming centre, my husband fell in love with
Ramona, (formerly black beauty),
a lovely 9 month old girl who had been abandoned while in kitten.
It became apparent, that he was not leaving the centre without
her, so we decided to take two girls home with us.
We had to wait for Ramona to be netutered, but collected her the
following week.
Having just had her own kittens rehomed, she quickley bonded with
Ava, & they now seem to think that they are mother and
daughter.
Ava is still quite a timid cat, she is shy of strangers, and
either goes to Ramona for reassurance,
or hides when strangers visit, but Ramona is the total opposite.
She is confident, fussy, and very playful, even with people she
has just met.
She was a very greedy girl when we got her, probably due to the
time she was hungry while a stray,
but now she realises that she will not go hungry again, she does
not gobble her food down like she used to.
Both girls are spoilt, and bring us a lot of joy.
Thank you, Bob, Julie and the team for the great work that you do,
Regards, Cheryl.
Amber & Honey.
Hello to all the THARG team,
I thought I would send you an email to let you know how my two
gorgeous girls are doing!!
We brought the girls home on Thursday 11th August 2011. We were
very excited and had their bedroom all ready!!!
Honey was very quiet when we got home but Amber was running around
playing with the children right from the start!!
When my two children had gone to bed, I had chance to spend some
time with the kittens,
and Honey, who had not made a sound since bringing her home, came
and snuggled up with me on the sofa and purred for hours!!!
Over the next few days she became very lively and the two kittens
now charge around the house, playing non-stop.
They are very cheeky girls and are so interested in everything.
They get on so well with their "brothers" who are great playmates
and my eldest son, Ben, feeds them every morning so they love
him!!
Overall, the kittens are so amazing and we love them so much.
They are my little princesses now and get the real royal treatment
in our house.
Thanks to everyone at THARG,
Kate.

Tinsel & Bauble.
We came to get a new addition to our house in January and ended up
falling in love with 2 special little cats Bauble and Tinsel.
Bauble is one of the most mischievious cats you could ever meet,
he eats lots of treats and reminds you of the cat off the dreamie
advert,
where ever you hide the treats he will find them nothing is an
obsticale.
At the moment my cats are allowed upstairs at night whilst I am
off school and bauble every night attempts to open and climb
inside my wardrobe.
Bauble is a little eating machine and since we have got him he has
put lots of weight on, he loves being stroked and being carried
round and is extremely soft and fluffly.
One of things he likes is lying on the window sill watching the
birds and sleeping in the sun.
Bauble's favourite toy is a small fluffly purse which he likes to
carry round with him.
He enjoys going out and investigating the our doors but I like it
best when he is in with me.
Tinsel's nick name is tinkerbell as she is quite dainty and a
little timid cat not like her boystrous brother, she likes
snuggling up on the end of my bed in my dressing gown.
She loves getting up close to you and nudging you near your face
and purring until you stroke her and she has your attention,
she is extremely well behaved and has a lovely nature, she does
not always like being picked up but loves being sat with you and
being pampered.
She loves tuna and loves dreamies treat and her favourite flavour
is the cheese ones.
Tinsel loves being brushed and rolling around and with her being
semi long haired always looks so fluffy.
Both bauble and tinsel have a treat ball which is quite amusing to
watch when they are chasing each other around for the treats.
Both have quite different personalities but are great cats who I
love to bits and can't imagine what I would now do with out them.
My friends like staying over and playing with them as they are so
adorable and affectionate.
I just wish my Mum would let me have lots more haha!!!
Jodie.

Iggy.
Tia & Iggy.
Just to let you all know Iggy is getting on
great and has settled in well with his long lost girlfriend Tia
LOL.
Whilst they have the odd lovers tiff they do enjoy each others
company.
Our journey of finding Iggy is finally over and our pet family is
now complete.
So thanks to all at The Heatons Animal Group for all they do
rehoming cats to loving homes.
Thank you Sarah, Nick, Tia and Iggy.

JJ.
Hi, we rehomed JJ (formerly known as Ceegan) in Feb 2011.
As you can see, he was a little shy at first and rarely came out
of the TV cabinet. But it wasn't long before he settled in!
He is certainly a character and has us laughing at the things he
does nearly every day (finding him sitting in the shower is just
one thing!)
Thank you to all the staff at THARG and to the lady who took him
in and contacted the cattery when he was homeless.
He is very happy in his new home!
Amy and Matt.

Malcolm.
Hi there, I adopted a kitten from you guys on 28th May this year.
He's 6 months now and I absolutely love having him.
I thought i'd send you some pictures :) Amna.
Guss & Dewey.
Hi Just a quick line to let you know Guss & Dewey (formerly
Myra & Melina respectively) are doing well. They took a while
to settle in,
both were very nervous especially Dewey who took nearly a month to
come out from under the couch.
She's turned into a really affectionate cat now though making a
real fuss of me when I get home from work,
spending the evenings sitting with me on the couch and sleeping on
my bed at nights.
Guss is more of an outside cat and likes to spend as much time as
possible outside in the garden although she regularly comes in for
a quick cuddle before disappearing again.
She has a really cute habit of bringing back bird tail feathers
for me.
I can tell when she's bringing one as she starts calling from the
bottom of the garden to let me know she's coming,
before rushing over and dropping it at my feet looking as proud as
punch with herself.
I have to admit that I was a bit apprehensive about adopting a
couple of rescued cats having only ever raised kittens before.
I can now safely say though that I made the right decision as I've
ended up with a couple of real characters
that give a lot of enjoyment and seem really happy to be living
with me.
I hope things are going well at THARG.
Keep up the good work.
Best wishes, Ron.
