Re-homed Page 3

A chance to have a look at some of the cats that have been re-homed
and find out how they are getting on in their new homes.

Emma_Missy1s

Emma (AKA missy).

Hello I have finally found the time to send in a little update and a picture of Missy ( now known as Emma)
Thanks for my cat, she is adorable and i don't know what i would do without her!
Emma has settled in very well in her new home. She is the friendliest cat I have ever known, and I have had cats all my life!
She adores being hugged and kissed and loves lying on her back to get her belly rubbed!
She gets on well with everyone in the house who all give her lots of attention.
The best thing about Emma is that she will have whole conversations with you by replying to questions with a little meow.
She is very vocal but doesn’t cry for food, just for hugs!
Emma loves licking the jelly off meat chunks in food but doesn’t like the meat so much, maybe we will experiment with brands!
Every now and again she gets treated with a can on tuna.
Even though she is fussy she has already put on a bit of weight which is excellent as she was quite thin when I got her.
Emma wants to say a massive thank you to everyone at the sanctuary for looking after her so well
until she was brought to her new home.

Tarquin_1sZante_Tarquin

           Tarquin.                            Tarquin and Zante.

Hi all, Tarquin and Zante are getting on well.
Zante is still hiding but she is very purry and happy.
Tarquin is my shadow - where I go he follows, even when he's annoyed at me.
Needless to say he hogs the bed at night! We tried to keep him out of the bedroom but that lasted all of one night.
Zante is still picking on Tarquin. They had their first 'fight' last night
as we treated them to catnip.
We think they like each other though, as Zante bumps noses with him and chirps in greeting.
If Zante seems scared Tarquin goes over and curls up with her
although he's not fond of her rubbing against him and grooming him.
I've attached a photo of Tarquin sprawled out like he usually is.
I'll send one of Zante as soon as I can.

Update. 7/12/10

They're both doing great...
spoilt rotten and both love curling up on the bed with us.
For cats that had never known each other previously,
they are inseparable and can often be found grooming each other or playing together,
although Tarquin being so much bigger than Zante often panics her and she decides to storm off in a huff!
It doesn't last long though, as before long she's running back in the room chirrping at him.
The only trouble with the two of them being so close is that giving Tarquin his daily ear drops is proving to be a two person task
- one person to distract Zante from shoving her nose in his ear and the other to administer the drops.
Thank you to everyone at THARG, we couldn't have hoped for two more adorable kitties!,
Love to all Rosie & Ian.

Dave_1sDave_3s

Dave.

We came in several weeks ago and adopted Dave.
We just want to thank you, because he has been such a great addition to our home.
He has very long fur and he's very soft and fluffy.
Dave is a great companion, and doesn't stray very far from us. He's usually curled up on the couch beside us
- or at the foot of our bed.
(As you can see from the pictures, he also likes to leave a lot of fur on our bedsheets!)
Of all the toys we've bought him - so far his favourite is the homemade one we put together in the first few days...
a simple ball of tinfoil tied to some string! He's also very interested in the vegbox we get delivered.
He's very vocal, especially when we're cooking - the smell of chicken cooking drives him mad!
And he does his best to look particularly cute, hoping for a scrap or two.
He has won us over. Thanks again

Perci_1sPerci_2s

Perci.

 Hi Julie,
I hope you, the staff and all the kitties at the sanctuary are well.
Just thought I'd send you an update on Perci's progress so far, along with some photos.
We re-homed her on November 20th from your lovely sanctuary and she's settled in very well
- she was quite timid at first but she soon started coming to us for cuddles and now she's the most affectionate cat imaginable!
She's eating and drinking well and she loves to play, but she's equally happy to snooze on the sofa and watch a dvd with us.
We're very much enjoying our new addition to the household, and Perci seems very content in her new home!
Thank you very much for making it possible for us to give Perci a home,
your sanctuary does a fantastic job and I hope that all the beautiful cats there find new homes soon!
Best wishes, Sarah, Chris and Perci

Speckles

Speckles.

Hi, Here is our handsome boy Speckles.
We re-homed him quite a number of years ago now and we never updated you - until now.
We came to the sanctuary and were shown Speckles as he had been there a long time.
We had never had cats before and so when he growled at us,
we were a little nervous and decided to take a very sweet, timid, all black female called Molly instead
(who we still have and she is very spoilt!).
A few months later we decided Molly might be a bit lonely so we went back to the sanctuary.
Speckles was still there and so we decided to take him. He is the softest, most playful, intelligent and humorous cat!
He loves to be picked up and cradled like a baby and is very vocal when he wants something.
He likes to announce when he arrives in the room haha! Despite our best efforts,
Molly and Specs (as we call him) just tolerate each other really however they both seem happy.
Theyre both getting on a bit now (both about 11-12)- Molly acts like it however Specs still gallops around like a kitten!
You might remember Speckles because of the unusual markings in his right eye (hence his name!)
Thanks so much! Dawn.

Murphy_1s

Murphy (AkA Bilbo).

Hi "Murphy" formerly Bilbo would just like you to know that he is very well and settled,
and wishes you all a very Happy Christmas, and thanks you for re-homing him with Steve & Sue.
He is definately a man's cat, as he won't leave Steve alone, he loves nothing more than to jump on his knee at every opportunity.
(We also think he was a dog in another life, as he's under your feet wherever you go).
Thanks again, we're very happy with Murphy and glad we came to your rescue centre on May 15th this year.
Best wishes, Sue & Steve.

Mork_1sMork_2s

Mork.

Hi There, We thought you may like to see Mork and hear his story since leaving the sanctuary.
I rehoused Mork 2 years ago.
He has always been a house cat and as you can see he is very happy and contented.
He ate lots of turkey over Christmas despite having no teeth!!.
Peter .

Duffy_Thera_1sDuffy_Thera_2s

Thera and Duffy.

Dear all, We adopted Thera and Duffy from you in November, one week apart if you remember, we came back for Duffy!
They are the most delightful and wonderful additions to our family,
we are so happy to have them both, thank you so much.
They asked us if they could send an e-mail to be included in your re-homed page so here it is:
Dear Friends at the cat sanctuary,
Thank you for looking after us when we lived with you.
We now have a new family who love us very much. They collected Thera first and then came back for me a week later. (Duffy)
When I arrived at my new home Thera was waiting for me
and she licked my ears and head for me, it’s very tricky to reach some parts yourself….
We cuddle up together all the time and even though we have a bed each we prefer to snuggle up in the same one.
We play with all our toys and Father Christmas bought us a tunnel because you told him that we liked to play in the one at the cat sanctuary.
We sometimes race around the house and play chasing games, mummy laughs at us and says that we’re crazy cats!
We like to sleep on everyone else’s beds and we like sitting watching TV with our family because we get lots of strokes.
We’ve attached some photos for you,
Love from Thera and Duffy,
xxx

Avatar_Duddly_1sAvatar_Dudly_2s

Avatar now called Dudley.

We just though we'd update you on Avatar, a 3(ish)yr old male tabby whom we re-homed in September last year.
Following the loss of our previous cat Jinks (also a male tabby) we waited for over a year before deciding to home another cat.
We checked the website and read the stories of the cats needing rehoming and subsequently visited in September.
We did initially have our eye on another cat but when Avatar was allowed out to introduce himself to us
we were immediately taken with his friendly nature as he rubbed round our ankle.
So, having won us over, we took him home and showed him his new surroundings.
We renamed him Dudley, and are delighted to say that having been with us for a little over 4 months
he's fully settled into life here and is content to be a very well looked after house cat! From initially not liking to be picked up in the early stages,
he is now happy with much more contact and is never happier than when curled up on one of our laps.
He enjoys his food and always follows us into the kitchen to see what treats can be had from his cupboard.
He also loves to play! A big thank you to all at THARG for looking after Dudley in his short stay with you,
aswell as thanks to the very kind lady who brought him in and fed him during his time as a stray.
From what was written on the card that was left with him, he has certainly come on leaps and bounds
and is now very happy and settled!
Love Dan & Sarah.

Borris_1sBorris_2s

Boris.

Hello to all at The Heatons Animal Rescue,
My family and I came to your sanctuary towards the end of August last year.
Fortunately you had just the cat for our family !!
We were able to rehome a large ginger male cat, then called Vivian.
Just an update to let you know how he is going on !
We renamed him Boris, he settled really well right from the start.
Boris loves sleeping most of the day, upstairs on the bed ! - but also loves roaming around outside.
Boris loves watching the fish !! He is a very affectionate cat and he loves a stroke and a cuddle.
He gets on famously with our 3 boys. Matthew, my middle son, absolutely adores him.
Thanks again, Amanda.

Rocky_1sRocky_2s

Rocky.

Hello everyone. I collected Rocky just over a year ago last September,
fell in love with him straight away and phoned the wife to tell her about his plight.
When I took him home, to all intents and purposes he was ferral, hissing at anyone or anything that moved.
He proceeded to take refuge under the corner of the bed in the spare bedroom for a little over 6 weeks.
My wife and I spent most of our time on our bellies talking to him and offering him food, water, cat treats and things on strings.
Gradually Rocky came out of his shell and began to surprise us with things on a daily basis.
The greatest of these being when he actually made physical contact with us.
Since then my little guy is a talking point with the whole family and our neighbours.
You could not wish for a more pleasant people-loving cat.
The picture doesn't do him justice because he is huge!
Rocky is twice the size of our tabby Poppy and they get on well together.
Both get on well with our dog Tilly, (Rocky occasionally shares Tilly's bed).
Anyhow, Rocky says thanks to the Heatons Cats Rescue and so do we.
Lots of love from Kevin and Jean at Rocky's House.

Syd_1s

Syd.

Hi there We brought Syd home at the end of October 2010; he is doing very well and is now truly settled in.
We needed a streetwise cat as there are so many cats on our road; well, we couldn't have got a better fit.
Within a few weeks of being here he established himself at the top of the cat league!!
Around the house he is an absolute dream quite happily watching the world go by from the window sills
when he gets the chance, sleeping, eating and more sleeping.
Attached are a couple of photos of him in his favourite place – if he tries hard enough he will blend in!!
He isn't the lightest on his feet though, we certainly know when he has had enough and decides on a change of scenery!!
He loves the outdoors and can take himself off for hours, but is always home when there is food about.
He is so affectionate, always ready for a cuddle - over the last month or so, at the same time most evenings,
he has been taking himself into the lounge waiting for us - certainly a creature of habit. Up till then,
every evening, he is almost always with us in the kitchen!!
He came away with us for a few days at Christmas, visiting family;
he travelled very well and settled in really well with the wider family
(no young children though so it was very quiet).
It was a big success. So all in all, everyone is very happy!!
Thanks for everything and for giving Syd a second chance of a happy family life.

TheBaranskis_1s

Matilde, Mletchko & Javert.

Hi, We recently adopted Nettie and Lettie (now Matilde and Mletchko) and Bucky (now Javert)
and we're just letting you know how they are getting on!
When they first arrived they spent all their time playing with the christmas tree and causing chaos!
But now they have definitely calmed down and enjoy being in each other's company.
Whether it's wandering around the garden or sleeping in the house! Javert has grown so quickly!
He is such a livewire who loves playing with toys and play fighting with the others (although this is not always appreciated!)
He also loves cuddles and wakes my daughter up each morning purring and snuggling under the covers.
Mletchko loves having her lovely black and white tummy rubbed and will roll over for you at every opportunity!
She also has a newfound love for catnip and goes wild for the yummy treat!
Matilde is a kook who loves spending most of her time exploring the garden and sleeping in her cosy cat bed!
All three have fit into the family perfectly and we can tell they are all very happy and contented with their new life!
Thank you Heatons Animal Rescue Group - from both cats and humans!!
We would love it if you posted our story and photos of the cats on your website so everyone knows how great they are!
Thanks again, The Baranski Family
(Louise, Lilli & Jozef and Matilde, Mletchko & Javert)

Midnight_1s

Midnight.

Hello! Just a quick note to let you know that Midnight has settled in so well and seems very happy with her new life.
She eats, sleeps and plays all day long! At first she was a little lonely when we left her to go out to work,
but she's fine now we leave the radio on to keep her company, but always happy to see us when we get home!!!
She's very greedy, and has put on some weight - as you might see from the photo!
She jumped into the fridge last night when I was putting the shopping away!!
She's extremely playful, and very very nosey!!
We think she's reliving her kitten years, all over again!!!
She spends most of the day looking out the window and chasing leaves and other cats through the window!
When we start letting her out, they're all in trouble!!!
At first she wouldn't sleep for long periods of time, and would wake herself up meowing!!
Now she goes for hours, and most nights sleeps on our bed!
Anyway, we wanted to say thank you for letting us adopt her.
She has helped fill the space that losing Toppy left in our lives.
We love her so much and we're so happy to have her.
Love from Simone, Gary, Alice and Midnight x x x

Baker_1sBaker_2s

Rusty.

Hi I just thought I would send you these pics to put on the website of Baker (now Rusty).
He is settling in and enjoys looking out of the front window to see whats going on.
His favourite place when I’m in is on top of the sofa watching TV and snoozing.
He really is enjoying his food and eats his wet food straight away.
Many thanks for such a lovely cat.
Regards Gary Bardsley

Eponine

Eponine.

Just wanted to send you a success story for the website on Eponine!
Eponine was very shy when we first met her at the Heatons.
After deciding that she was the one for us she took a long time to come out of her cat box
but as soon as she did she really came out of her shell!
Eponine really lets you know that she's happy with her very loud purrs and general snuggly behaviour.
As she's grown in confidence Eponine has become more
and more inquisitive and has ventured into the garden but remains a house cat at heart!
She's still very greedy and loves her creature comforts including many hours of sleep!
Eponine is a very content and happy cat and we're very happy too!
Thanks to all at the Heatons for the help and support.
Maria and Phil.

Honey_1sHoney_2s

Tammy now called Honey.

Hi Julie and the gang.
Just wanted to update you on Tammy (now Honey), who we adopted from you in Nov 2010.
She is gorgeous, she has settled in very well, has put on weight and her coat is lovely, thick and furry now.
As you can see, she loves playing, especially in her play cube and tunnel!
She is so affectionate and puts her paw on us to let us know she wants more cuddles!
Would also like to say we are so happy that Midnight has found a home-
I was crying when I read about her lovely home on your rehomed page!
Thanks again for our lovely cat Honey, Helen and John :)

ZazooMable_1sZazooMable_2s

Zazoo now called Mabel.

 Dear all,
Just to let you know, Mabel (previously Zazoo) is settling really well into her new home.
She is such an adorable cat - so cuddly and affectionate. She sits on our laps for hours, purring away,
nudging our hands when we stop stroking her even for a second!
She has a little toy cat who is her new best friend!
She's given us lots of laughs and we can't imagine our home without her in it now.
Thank you to all the team at The Heatons Animal Rescue Group for doing such a fantastic job
and allowing us to have such a gorgeous cat!

Archie_Homer_1sArchie_Homer_2s

Archie (previously Homer).

Archie (previously Homer) came to live with us following the untimely death of Tilly, a gorgeous female cat we had rehomed from THARG.
We were torn between a cat by the name of Pickles and Homer (now Archie)
but in view of the hard work and amount of time we had put into Tilly (who perhaps had slight behavioural problems)
we wanted a quiet life and Pickles was just a little too boisterous for us.
As things have turned out, Archie is just the right cat for us. He always wants to be with us and sits between us on the settee,
and also on his own cushion, just to make sure we are both there! He has an enormous appetite and is always interested in food.
He is extremely affectionate and is lovely to have around.
When he goes out, we only have to call his (new) name and he comes bounding back to us within a minute or two.
The only problem we do have is that he always wakes up at 5.00 am and comes into our bedroom
and walks across us to announce his arrival – a little disturbing at first, but we have got used to it! Carol and Philip

CharlieRio_1sCharlieRio_2s

Charlie.

Dear Julie and friends, Charlie(Rio)s first day at ‘home’.
As you can see from thre pictures he has settled in well.
He's had an unfriendly encounter with the a black and white cat from a few doors away.
I have managed to wean him off the chicken! Now once again he's eating cat food!
Purrs,
Stella Lowe
