Could you re-home one of our cats?

If you have a suitable home (and lap) to offer
Please take a look below at the cats we have currently seeking homes.

Humphry2Humphry3
Humphry.
** Re-homed 28/8/2010 **
Humphrey is a 5 month old playful little boy.
He is very well behaved and loves people.
He would suit a young family as he craves attention
and is safe with children.

Vivian1Vivian2
Vivian.
** Re-homed 28/8/2010 **

Vivian is a very large, playful, loving 3year old male.
He is extremely friendly, running to greet you whenever you enter the room.
He likes lots of fuss and attention and would make a great family pet.

Cosette1Cosette2

Cosette.

Cosette is a very pretty 3year old semi-long haired tortie.
She loves to be held and constantly stroked.
She would sit on your knee 24 hours a day if possible.
Therefore she requires a home where there is someone present all day
to give her the love and attention she needs.

ChiChi

Chi-Chi.
My name is Chi-Chi and I'm 10 years old.
That may sound old to you but I've had a very good upbringing.
Therefore I'm in tip-top condition with a clean bill of health.
My previous owner took me to the vets for check ups on a regular basis.
I'm up to date with all my innoculations, flea and worm treatments.
I meant to mention that I'm not just any old cat.
Oh no, I.m a posh cat-I'm a full pedigree British Shorthair if you please.
I've been a house cat all my life.
Even if the door's open, I don't go outside.
I prefer the comforts of an indoor life.
As I'm very timid, I need a quiet adult only home.
I really miss my owner so at the moment I'm spending most of my time sulking underneath my blankets.
I know that when the right person comes for me, I'll like them and feel confident once again.
If they cook me some chicken, I'll love them even more.
In the meantime as long as my cat food is meat flavoured, then that's fine.
I promise to crawl out from my blanket to welcome you if you pay me a visit on Saturday

Eponine1Eponine2
Eponine.

Eponine is a very friendly, greedy 3 year old girl.
She was found wandering around a caravan site in the country.
She has a soft, quiet nature
and just wants a nice quiet home to settle into.

Fantine1Fantine2

Fantine.
Fantine is a tiny 8 week old girl.
She was found in the woods, crying.
She is very vocal and as she is so small, needs a lot of human contact.
Her new home would need to have someone present
for most of the time to keep her company.
She is a good eater and very playful.

Javert_Valjean1Javert_Valjean2

Javert and Valjean.

Javert and Valjean are a pair of 3month old boys.
They were found in a builders yard hiding behind supplies.
Due to this, it is evident that they have not had much human contact or handling.
They have a very lively nature,
but day by day, they are getting used to us and calming down.
Both kittens would require an experienced cat owner
who has the patience to devote lots of time and attention to them.
At the moment we would recommend a child-free home

Tarquin1Tarquin2

Tarquin.

Tarquin is a 2 year old male
with a cauliflower ear sustained by living neglected on the streets.
On arrival at the sanctuary, he had a head wound too
but that has been dealt with and he is now ready for a new home.
Although he has been given the all clear by the vet,
he would need daily ear drops to keep the ear canal open.
These cost around £5 per month.
He used to be very scared but now he knows us, he is a big softie.
He loves salmon and tuna (we have spoilt him due to his sorry state)
and being stroked under his chin.
If you wouldnt mind the daily medication-
which Tarquin makes easy for you by tilting his head-
then you would get so much love in return.

Zante1Zante2

Zante.

Zante is 3 year old very timid little girl.
Most of the day she hides in her basket,
coming out for food when nobody is looking.
If we do catch her out of her hiding place,
she is quite happy to be endlessly stroked and then purrs.
She was brought to the sanctuary with 3 other cats when their owner passed away.
All the other cats have been rehomed so poor Zante is left alone and very sad.
She only felt confident with her previous owner
so her new owner would have to be patient
and have lots of time to devote to her to gain her trust.
She needs a quiet,
adult only home with no other pets.

Topsy1Topsy2

Topsy.
Topsy is a 14year old beautiful calm girl.
Her owner died and Topsy was nearly put to sleep.
Although she obviously misses her owner,
she is nice and friendly and eats lots of food.
She is in excellent health for her age,
having had all her vaccinations and top class care.
Most people want to rehome a young cat
and therefore Topsy will probably get overlooked for quite some time.
Please think about giving a loving home to an old girl in need of a soft bed,
cushion or chair.
She is a very low maintenance cat and would give you lots of love.

Chino1Chino3

Chino.
** Re-homed 28/8/2010 **
Male black nine weeks old, very timid.
Needs lots of handling to get him used to people.
Loves being stroked once he knows you, talk to him and he feels safe.

Homer1Homer2

Homer.

Quiet four year old micro-chipped and vaccinated boy,
brought in as he was being bullied by other cats at home.
Loves strokes and fuss and his food!
Needs a quiet adult only home where he will feel safe.
No other cats or animals.

Melvin1Melvin3

Melvin.

Four month old Tabby/White.
LUNATIC!
Runs around, plays all day very loving and playful.
Eats anything.
Loves everything.

Thursday1Thursday4

Thursday.
** Re-homed 21/8/10 **

Three month old very pretty tortie and white kitten.
She is a live wire.
Very fast mover .
Darts around all over the place.
Loves to play and runs around in circles.

Winkie1winkie3

Winkie.

** Re-homed 21/8/10 **

Lovely quiet 2 year old boy.
Sadly left at the vets and would have been put to sleep if not brought here.
Very affectionate loves being talked to and stroked.
Friendly and soft.

Selina

Selina.
** Re-homed 24/8/2010 **

Jasper

Jasper.
** Re-homed 21/8/10 **

Jasper is a four year old black male "House cat".
He is a very soft loving cat who enjoys company.
His owner died so he is a little unsure of things at the moment.
Jasper can be homed on his own or with Spirit and Parco
whom he lived with up until his owners death.

Spirit1Spirit2

Spirit.
** Re-homed 21/8/10 **
Spirit is an enormous three year old Persian “House cat”.
He is quite timid around other cats but likes to be fussed
and loves to be picked up and cuddled.
As with all of these types of long haired cats
he would need daily grooming.

Paco1Paco2

Parco.
** Re-homed 21/8/10 **
Parco is a semi long haired tabby two year old “House cat”
Parco had shared a home with Jasper and Spirit until his owner died.
He can be homed alone or with Jasper and Spirit.
As he has never been outside it would be best if he remained a house cat.

Jaffa1Jaffa2

Jaffa.

Jaffa is a one year old chipped tortie.
She is very greedy
and loves nothing more than lots of food.
She likes lots of attention and is safe with children and other cats.
A very loving and playful cat.

Stella

Stella.
** Re-homed 28/8/2010 **

Stella is a seven year old beautiful grey cat and is in excellent health.
She needs an adult only, quiet, calm home.
Although she loves humans, other cats upset her.
Therefore she needs to be the only animal in the house.
As she had to share her previous home with another cat and a baby,
it all became too much for poor Stella. She started to forget to use the litter tray.
This eventually prompted her owners to rehome her for her best interests.
Since being in the sanctuary, she hasn't had a single 'accident'.
Infact she is perhaps the cleanest cat we have!
Perhaps she just needed a change of abode.
Hopefully a new home where she is the centre of attention
will prove to be the best outcome for Stella.

Cola

Cola.
** Re-homed 19/8/10 **

Cola is a two year old soft black cat.
She turned up as a stray  in someones back garden & took root!
Nothing bothers Cola.
So long as she can look out of the window and have access to a garden she will be happy.
She likes being stroked and groomed,
is a little nervous around other cats but is never confrontational.

Clark1Clark2

Clark.

** Re-homed 21/8/10 **

Clark is a cream and brown part Burman.
He is 18 Months old and neutered.
Exceptionally soft and very playful.
Loves everyone and eats anything
I had trouble taking the photos because he wanted to play.

Joanne1Joanne2

Joanne.
**  Reserved **
Yet another soft and playful cat.
Joanne is two and a half
years old and would like to be homed as an only cat.
Although she is great with adults she would be best in a home without children.

Heidi
Heidi.

Hello, my name is Heidi and I'm 8 years old.

I'm very sad because my owner had to go into sheltered housing
and they told her that I couldn't go with her.
I was brought to The Heatons so they could find me a new owner,
but that was six months ago. Nobody understands my ways.
I try to be kind for a short time, but then I get a bit cross and might scratch you.
I don't know why I do this, but if I found a nice new owner, I'm sure I'd calm down.
I just want a very quiet, adult only home. No children, dogs or other cats for me!
It would be lovely to have a settee or bed to lie on once again.
So if you are a patient person who is prepared to buy lots of Go Cat biscuits,
please come to see me on Saturday.

Mable.Mabel2s
Mabel.

Hi, I'm Mabel and they call me a "Hortie Tortie".
I don't really  know why.Perhaps it's because I like to decide when you can stroke me.
If you stroke me when I'm not ready, I might give you a gentle swipe with my paw,
but I don't mean to hurt you.
At first I would also scratch you but now its just a warning to wait til I'm ready for some fuss.
I let you know by rubbing my head  against you.
I love going outside and playing all day,
so if you go to work in the day,
I'd be quite happy on my own until you came back-so long as you had a nice garden.
Then I'd be ready to curl up next to you and keep you company.
I'd prefer to be your only pet and just adults in the house please.

try keeping a kitten still for more than 1 second!.

Rehoming policy:

Homing takes place on Saturday afternoons only, from 2 PM to 4:30 PM.

Our homing officers will be on hand to help you to find the perfect cat or kitten for you. We ask that you read the list below thoroughly, before visiting us.

1. If you are looking for a kitten, please ring the sanctuary first 0161 975 0784, as we don't always have them. This isn't necessary if you want an adult cat.

2. Please do not arrive prior to 2pm. The cattery is above our charity shop and people who arrive early and insist on waiting cause congestion in the shop. This puts shoppers off and as a result we lose money that is much needed for the cats.

3. You will need to bring two forms of identification with you: one with an address e.g. household bill, and one with a signature e.g. driving licence. Please do not be offended if we refuse to home a cat or kitten to you or we ask to do a home-check.

4. Children are welcome to visit the cattery but must be quiet, well behaved and accompanied by an adult.

5. Please be patient as you may have to wait in line for your turn to view the cats/kittens.

6. Take your time choosing and feel free to ask our homing officers any questions you may have. Cats live for 20 plus years and whichever cat you choose will become a member of your family so you must be sure. If you aren't sure, you're welcome to come back again and again until you are.

7. We only home neutered adult cats and ask people taking kittens to sign a declaration that they will have the kitten neutered at 6 months of age.

8. We ask for a minimum donation of £40 per cat/kitten which includes four weeks FREE cat insurance with PET PLAN. Donation requests for pedigrees may be higher.

9. We sell food, beds, carriers, litter trays, litter etc. Cats will only be allowed out of the sanctuary in secure carriers.  Cardboard boxes etc are NOT appropriate. We can also micro-chip your cat/kitten (dependant on age/size of kitten) at a cost of £12.

10. If after viewing an adult cat you wish to reserve them we ask for a non refundable £10 deposit Please note the maximum reservation period is 7 Days. Reservations beyond this time will incur a charge of £10 per week. Please note that we cannot reserve kittens.

Important information:

Our estimates of the cat's ages are based upon
information we are given by previous owners, coupled with many years of experience working with cats.
Please ensure when you visit our sanctuary that you are happy with the age and condition of the cat before committing to taking them home.

We reserve the right to refuse to home a cat or kitten to any person or persons. This is entirely at the discretion of the homing officer.

We look forward to seeing you sometime soon,

The THARG team.
